Competition in the hyper sport bike segment increased with the release of motorcycles like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 and BMW K1200S. This increased competition led to Suzuki heavily revising the GSX1300R for the 2008 model year.Suzuki has dropped the GSX1300R designation in some countries and simply called the motorcycle the Hayabusa. The engine size was increased to 1340 cc (81.7 cu in) with the compression ratio increasing to 12.5:1. The revised engine has a claimed 12% increase in power to 194 hp (145 kW).Fuel is now fed through a pair of new 44 mm (1.7 in) Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) throttle bodies. The Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS), a technology introduced on the GSX-R line of motorcycles, provides three options of power delivery for a range of touring to wide open high performance. Founded in 1903, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company was among the original companies building and selling motorcycles to racers and other thrill seekers. Among a crowded field of starters, it had the distinction of being the only motorcycle company to survive the next 80 years, and thus it came by its legendary status honestly. During the late 1970s, however, the company was troubled by a reputation for poor quality, lagging innovation, and serious competition from abroad, most notably from Japanese manufacturers. During an unfortunate period of ownership by AMF Corporation, the company even produced Harley-Davidson golf carts. Finally, after a group of investors bought the company back, it began a remarkable turnaround. In 1979 the company hired the Minneapolis ad agency Carmichael Lynch Spong to help reverse some of the negative perceptions that were plaguing it. HONDA NSR 125 The Honda NSR125 is a 2 stroke, 125 cc (lightweight) sport bike produced between 1988-2005. The high revving (red zone of the tachometer begins at 11,000 rpm), 2 stroke, RC-Valve equipped, single cylinder engine produced around 30 bhp (22 kW) at the crank. The name is taken from the NSR 500 GP bike which proved great success on the track. There were 2 models of the NSR125; the earlier model, the JC20 consisted of the naked NSR125F with a square headlight and its the fully faired sister NSR125R, was produced between 1988-1994. The later "fox eye" model, the JC22, (named due to its front lights resembling that of a fox's eyes) was produced between 1993-2003. Following the success of the NS125, the NSR125-JC20 was designed and assembled by Honda Italia Industriale S.P.A. in Rome, Italy.
